Quick day 4!

Congratulations_header_03

You might have felt a little tired today... you're not the only one. Great job on pushing through!

I personally went to bed at 7:45 last night.   The "Carb Flu" got the better of me.
But I must say it was the best nights sleep I have had in a while.

Days 4-5: Kill ALL the things!

Day 4 dawns and you tentatively step out of bed, expecting to feel like you took a strike from Thor’s hammer in the temple. Instead, your head is surprisingly clear. Your limbs all feel functional. This could be a good day! You walk into the kitchen and as you’re greeted by the smiling face of your significant other you are suddenly overcome…with the desire to punch them in the face for smiling this early in the morning.  Congratulations! You’ve made it to day 4.

Now, I have no clue why this phase happens, or why it happens here (and not on, say, day 14).* I just know that it happens. Often. Even experienced Whole30ers (myself included) go through this phase.  Every nerve is lit, temperance is non-existent and the only solution to the problem seems to be to Kill All of the Things.
This phase, too, will pass.  Beg your spouse, children, parents, co-workers, for patience and forgiveness – as nicely as you can (and no, “shut up and leave me alone!” does not count as nice). Take a deep breath and eat some sweet potatoes. I promise, you’ll feel better soon.
*It’s probably because your brain is never very happy when you tell it that it CAN’T have something, and take it out of it’s habitual and accustomed comfort zone. An unhappy brain is a stressed brain, an anxious brain, a fearful brain. No to mention your hormones are desperately trying to keep up with your new food choices, your gut is trying to heal, you’ve had a headache for the last three days, and you REALLY MISS YOUR DIET COKE. So yeah, maybe we do know why this is happening now…

Love hearing how y'all are feeling. I personally feel pretty great. It feels much easier this time around and I am not consumed with what to eat like I was first time around. Maybe I have been eating healthier since the last whole30. I haven't craved sugar at all! I mean, I will destroy some doughnuts but it isn't all I  think about like the first time.

I did have a dream that I cheated the first day. I was wondering how I was gonna break it to you. hahah. It was only a dream.

Y'all are kicking butt on IG. So many great recipes to try.

So for next week: We are gonna cook with the following:

Anise seed
Beets
Eggplant
Collards
Kimchi
Jicama

We will do the challenge each week so feel free to participate if you can!! Try to cook with some or all of those ingredients!! I personally have tried and love ALL of those. Eggplant might be my least favorite. Just broil it with sea salt, anise seed and pepper. cut it in thick strips. It's good.

If you use those or have a great dish then please post and share with us!! Also, let me know what you want to cook with for the next week! It is so fun to try new stuff!

Welp, some of us are dragging to day 4 and some are skipping along.

I get the feeling that some of you haven't read the book. If not then now is the time. I promise we will talk about it next week. I'll post a pic and let's start some great discussion on IG. It is so great that even though people aren't doing the whole30, they can still benefit from us doing it.

You got this. Don't quit. You committed.
