Cold Hard Truth

Congratulations_header_08

Looks like you’re on your way to joining the ranks of Whole30 success stories. HIGH FIVE!

And because, really, you can never have too many high fives...

I had a rough day emotionally with this process yesterday.  I was feeling the need to be strong and unaffected, but the truth is that I am struggling just as many of you are.  I stated early on that this forum was going to be an honest place for us to share our journey.  So time for the truth.  My body was so out of whack yesterday that I was in tears, I was angry, I just wanted to quit.  So I went to the gym.  I worked it out. I poured some sweat and moved on.  I find my calm and center in the gym.  It is my safe haven that I go to when I need to do something for me.
Thank you ladies for being here as a support for one another.  Putting this little blog together every day, has kept me honest with myself, and allowed me the opportunity to share in the experience with you.

Happy Wednesday everyone.  Remember it is going to get better. Start to feel off today, Go for a walk. Go for a run. Hell go to crossfit, I promise you will feel better.

Three Tips to Ensure Your Own Success

Remember when we warned you about some of the most common dietary errors we see with those new to the program? Week two also has its share of common mistakes, mostly to do with participants’ impatience to see results FAST—and not quite believing that all of our “rules” are critical to your long-term success.
We don’t blame you—we know it’s hard to stay the course, follow the program exactly, and avoid temptations to modify the plan. But trust us when we say each of our rules are specifically, carefully crafted to maximize your Whole30 results. You’re just going to have to trust us (and read a few articles explaining why we insist on 100% dedication to the Whole30 guidelines).
  • Tempted to weigh yourself? It’s a bad idea! Read about why the scale is not your friend during your Whole30 experience—even if you are losing weight!
  • Frustrated that things aren’t changing faster? Keep it in perspective! It took you 10, 20, 30 years to get to this place—and while it won’t take you that long to get back on track, there is no such thing as a quick fix. Patience, grasshopper… and dedication.
  • Tempted to cheat just a little? What difference can it make, right? WRONG! The Whole30 demands 100% compliance—and that’s science, not us playing the tough guy. As Anne Sharp learned, you get out of the Whole30 what you put into it.

Real Life Success Stories: Jessica O

If you read one testimonial about the Whole30 program, please, read this story. Jessica moved us to tears with her initial email, and has kept in touch for the last year and a half, updating us on her progress.
For many years, Jessica suffered from a series of ailments for which her doctors could not find a diagnosis. She also dealt with a heartbreaking condition called trichotillomania—otherwise known as compulsive hair pulling. Jessica suffered for years until, eventually, she found the Whole30. In Jessica’s own words:
“I didn’t know how sick I was until I started to get well. I had cracked skin between my toes; dandruff; frequent breakouts and infected skin on my face, fingernails and toenails that wouldn’t grow and tore off like paper; unhealthy hair; swollen lymph nodes in my neck and armpits; not to mention my all my neurological problems. Now, all of my skin is smooth and clear, I finally have fingernails that are thick and healthy, and I feel like I have mental clarity like I haven’t had in years. It quickly became obvious the foods I was previously eating had been blocking my body from receiving the nutrients it needed to thrive.”
Jessica is now a Whole9 Envoy Extraordinaire, and shares her message of health and hope with others within the TTM (trichotillomania) community. Her story is powerful, and beautiful, and we are humbled by her kind words. Read, believe, and share.

I made this Thai Curry Chicken over the weekend, it was pretty good.
