You might have felt a little tired today... you're not the only one. Great job on pushing through!
I personally went to bed at 7:45 last night. The "Carb Flu" got the better of me.
But I must say it was the best nights sleep I have had in a while.

Days 4-5: Kill ALL the things!
Day 4 dawns and you tentatively step out of bed, expecting to feel like you took a strike from Thor’s hammer in the temple. Instead, your head is surprisingly clear. Your limbs all feel functional. This could be a good day! You walk into the kitchen and as you’re greeted by the smiling face of your significant other you are suddenly overcome…with the desire to punch them in the face for smiling this early in the morning. Congratulations! You’ve made it to day 4.
Now, I have no clue why this phase happens, or why it happens here (and not on, say, day 14).* I just know that it happens. Often. Even experienced Whole30ers (myself included) go through this phase. Every nerve is lit, temperance is non-existent and the only solution to the problem seems to be to Kill All of the Things.
This phase, too, will pass. Beg your spouse, children, parents, co-workers, for patience and forgiveness – as nicely as you can (and no, “shut up and leave me alone!” does not count as nice). Take a deep breath and eat some sweet potatoes. I promise, you’ll feel better soon.
*It’s probably because your brain is never very happy when you tell it that it CAN’T have something, and take it out of it’s habitual and accustomed comfort zone. An unhappy brain is a stressed brain, an anxious brain, a fearful brain. No to mention your hormones are desperately trying to keep up with your new food choices, your gut is trying to heal, you’ve had a headache for the last three days, and you REALLY MISS YOUR DIET COKE. So yeah, maybe we do know why this is happening now…
If you are clawing something right now just thinking about letting go of any or all of these foods, I feel your pain! But, it also may be an indicator that this detox may be good for you. Eliminating the foods on their list from your diet (they believe) cleanses not only the body but also the mind from our psychological attachment to those foods. I'll admit, I snickered a bit at that idea, because for a year I've been trying to eat clean, and watch the amount of sugar that I consume.
WRONG. I was WRONG.
Without going into too much depressing detail, I will say that detaching myself from even my pseudo-healthy diet hasn't been a cake-walk. I thought going gluten free (which has, by the way, significantly improved my health) was a challenge, but the Whole30 makes that seem like a chocolate butter cream frosting cake walk.
((Personal Notes))
I have been fighting against negativity since I started my journey 18 months ago. People and their looks of CRAZY when I said that I was going to FINISH a triathlon. Looks of CRAZY when I said I was going to do another.... Looks of CRAZY when I said 2014 I am finishing the STP ( 200 mile ride ), a 1/2 marathon or 2, and 3 Triathlons. But yesterday I got a look of CRAZY when someone asked my why I was eating a sweet potato for breakfast. I explained the Whole30 and it's purpose. I was looked at and written off and another one of Leslie's crazy stunts. Truth is. I said I would lose weight. Sure I am not skinny and I have a way to go, but I have lost 63 pounds. I said I would finish a 5k, hell I have finished 6. I said I would finish a triathlon, I have finished 2 I am a TRIATHLETE. I'M GONNA SHOW YOU HOW GREAT I AM.
